Mum and partner James visited the new place on Monday, and we were surprised to receive a wonderful house warming present - not just any old basket you can find at a department store, this basket has all the items we like (and can use) chosen by Mum, and put together in the basket. Yesterday the last of the appliances was installed: The ducted vacuum. This was one of those items which wasn't on our list of "must haves" but was included with the house package, and deleting it would not have saved very much money. Thanks to everyone for their kind messages for our handover yesterday (especially to Mum who has mastered SMS)! The handover was all over very quickly: fill in some forms (including feedback forms), grab the keys, hand over the large bank cheque and that's it! No handover as yet, however one of the major outstanding items has now been completed - the tiling! The balcony has now been tiled and grouted, and the splashback in the pantry has been finished. During the last couple of days the sparkies have been back to move some downlights, and the plasterer has been repairing the holes. Hi all! Well, we had our Practical Completion Inspection (PCI) last Friday (18th July). We were there for about two hours and ended up with a three page list and many dots! For those of you who don't know, the PCI involves a walk through with the Site Supervisor to compile a definitive list of items which need attention, when are then signed off. A few changes since the last entry - the most significant is that our new garage door has been installed. The house has had it's floor swept, and the correct door locks have now been installed. Those of you who have been following this story will know that two very close friends of ours (whom we have never met) - Mike and Marita (M&M) - are also building a Cremorne 41. Had a phone call today from our CSC, and we were given a couple of very important dates! The PCI is set for Friday 18th July at 9:00am. That's the "Practical Completion Inspection" where we the get the opportunity to pick everything we are not happy with. Yes, we have mirrors - almost. Two out of three mirrors have been installed. We are thinking that as with everything else regarding the vanity in the ensuite, the height of the vanity has been stuffed up - and the mirror as supplied was the wrong size. Yesterday we decided to fit some wall plates to the theatre room, as the house was open and the rendering guys were working. A few pictures - the render colour will end up being "slate" which is more of a grey colour.
