Hi! Welcome to our Porter Davis Cremorne 41. This site will follow the progress of our home from the start, through every stage until the end. We will try and include as many photos as we can along the way. Why do you care? You probably don't - unless you are building or thinking of building your own place, or unless you are one of our friends or relatives. Strap yourself in - it's going to be a long and bumpy ride!

Little bits

Disappointingly, not much has happened since the last blog entry, with the exception that the Painter was back, which allowed us entry into the house - the first time since the cleaner had been through.

I guess all things are relative, but we noticed that while the place was definitely much cleaner than before, there was still a lot of crud stuck to the floor in various places, and people have still been walking up and down the stairs with their workboots. We didn't get one of those "Don't come in with your grotty workboots" signs that M&M had after their clean.

Enough of that. Some photos.

Paperbark colour now above the garage door.

.. as a whistle?

Not sure if the place is as clean as a whistle, but someone certainly certainly committed a neatness at our Cremorne 41!

Yesterday (Sunday) we met the lady who had the pleasure (!) of cleaning up after the tradies. Best of luck with your project.....

From what we can see today, she seemed to do a pretty good job - although I'm sure Bernadette will be going over it again after handover! Below, you can see that all the stickers and protective plastic has been removed from the windows.

The photos below show the back doors - which you could even see through before they were given the treatment!

Eagle eyed readers would have noticed that there are some infills missing above the doors. Fixed soon....

Now all we need is the bobcat to come on site and remove the rest of the rubbish.

Oh yeah, our shed is progressing too:

Blink, and you'll miss it!

Well, as promised after a few days away - here's another update. Last visit to the site was last Thursday - in one week, quite a bit has happened!

We met the chippie doing the fix - a nice guy who lives in Ocean Grove, and also met the guys fixing the cornice. The plasterers told us that they were finishing the job because Luke, the guy we met who was doing the fill, was quite ill - hope you get well soon Luke!

We must admit that we are getting a bit worried - Mike and Marita's home seems to be catching ours! Better call the Site Supervisor and let him know!

Scaffolding down, and site cleaned

Cleaned everywhere

Doors, architraves and skirts delivered.

Stairs have gone in!

We now have a room under the stairs

Looks like a real house now!

Even the decorative strip is in place

Looks like we have some serious landscaping to do soon!

Extra Pictures

Today we went to the house and took a few extra pictures. Bernadette decided that it was time to do a bit of a clean through - some of the tradies who had been through had a thing for fast food, and there was rubbish all over the place.

Rear cladding looks great!

Bath has been delivered - we went for the longer 1700mm one - standard is around 1500mm.

Ummm. A stack of bricks.

Lining the overhangs of the alfresco.

After the cleanup!

Magpies. There seems to be a lot of these bird hanging around the site. I counted 20 of them yesterday. During the week the reason became clear - one of the local residents feeds them every day. As a result, every black roof in the area has bird crap all over it where maggies sit on the tv anetenna. They never leave, because they get a free meal every day!

Acid wash

Bricks were given a dose of the acid scrub today and cleaned up. We are very happy with the colour, and the guy doing the cleaning also commented on the excellent work done by the brickies.

Some photos for your enjoyment! As you can see below, there are two windows still to be installed (these were the ones which were knocked off, but replacements have been delivered).

We particularly like the nice even brick work in the picture above. The plasterer was also at it today, and although the house was locked we could see that there had been plenty of patching and filling going on.
