Hook, Rail and Thinker

Ok - it seems that people want to see more photos! It's kind of difficult once you have moved into a new house, as you don't want to take photos of the mess, or too many personal belongings.

Having said that, we have included some recent photos of bits that are not too messy (hopefully!)

Today we have been busy painting more tri-quads for the floors (enamel paint takes ages to dry in this weather), and we have installed some of the necessities for the ensuite.

First, someone asked for some bathroom pictures, so here they are:

The laminate flooring "cherry spice". This shows the colour and look pretty well.

The controller which is installed for the central heating and cooling. Nothing flash - no fancy timer options here! Something to consider upgrading if you are planning your house.

Another picture of the stairs with the lights we had installed. Picture doesn't do it justice - we love 'em!

The lounge suite was delivered (finally). Colour is actually a dark brown.

We've been busy today installing some bathroom accessories into the ensuite. The holders and rails are a model which is exclusive to Tradelink called "Seattle". They have them listed on their web site if you are interested.

Some interesting things about installing these items - even though I knew that noggings were put into the frame to hold the accessories, and the toilet roll holders were at 900mm and the towel rail noggings were at 1000mm, it was useful to go back through the many photos we took at before the plaster went on to see where they started and ended.

Also, one of the most useful tools for the job is the laser levelling stud finder. Blokes - get one of these. It detects studs and AC wires and will shoot a level to help you with the right line. Even better, if you hang onto it when you turn it on, it says "Stud detected".....

On the tiles

Our timing was excellent again today as we went past the house and had our noses pressed against the glass as the tiler arrived. Took a few happy snaps, and we are very happy with the progress.

Not sure about the tiles in the ensuite - it seems that the vanity in this room is determined to give us some grief! As you can see, at the moment the taps don't quite line up - not a great deal in it, and not normally noticable, except that it's near the top of the tiles. We asked the tiler about putting another row in - but he wanted to have a chat with SS first to see if the mirror has already been ordered. Fair enough - we will see what happens!
