Hi! Welcome to our Porter Davis Cremorne 41. This site will follow the progress of our home from the start, through every stage until the end. We will try and include as many photos as we can along the way. Why do you care? You probably don't - unless you are building or thinking of building your own place, or unless you are one of our friends or relatives. Strap yourself in - it's going to be a long and bumpy ride!

So close, but so far away!

Well, no handover on Friday (we never expected it anyway), however the past few days have seen a lot of activity around the place.

Plaster, paint, tiles and other things have all been worked on. The toilet has been removed, the Tri-lock installed and loads of other things.

Yesterday (Saturday) we picked up our timber laminate flooring from Fowles and took it to the house, as the painter was there and the place was open.

Broken tiles now replaced. Tiler had to bring some tiles over as the mongrel local kids had broken the ones I set aside

Left over roof tiles - now stored in the garage!

Tiler put the last (missing) tile into the bathroom. At the same time he also tiled the splashback in the pantry (picture coming next time)

Balcony has been sealed in preparation for tiles

Toilet and bin have gone

Gas meter now installed

Hand rail now installed - for the first time since painting...

... but the location of the light switch isn't ideal!

This cornice in bedroom 4 was replaced

Quad beading in place in the al fresco.
More painting needs doing here - or should we say, sanding back, then painting.

Drainage from retaining wall now tied into silt pit

Our flooring being delivered

All 47 boxes!

As the place was open for the past couple of days, we took the opportunity to terminate some wiring and put face plates in. More detail on this coming up on the LexCom Blog (see the link at right).

Little bits

Disappointingly, not much has happened since the last blog entry, with the exception that the Painter was back, which allowed us entry into the house - the first time since the cleaner had been through.

I guess all things are relative, but we noticed that while the place was definitely much cleaner than before, there was still a lot of crud stuck to the floor in various places, and people have still been walking up and down the stairs with their workboots. We didn't get one of those "Don't come in with your grotty workboots" signs that M&M had after their clean.

Enough of that. Some photos.

Paperbark colour now above the garage door.

Clean upstairs games area

Cleaner stairs - but with boot prints

Some dates

Had a phone call today from our CSC, and we were given a couple of very important dates!

The PCI is set for Friday 18th July at 9:00am. That's the "Practical Completion Inspection" where we the get the opportunity to pick everything we are not happy with.

The handover is set for one week later (25th July), however I suspect that the handover will be delayed once they have our list. A couple of the items on the list won't be fixed in one week.

A couple more pictures for you.

Wardrobe rails have been put in.

Junction boxes in the stair walls - our stair wall lights will be fitted here. This is the set of stairs above the landing. Photo taken from upstairs.

Stairs and Benchtops

Today the plumbers were on site installing downpipes and flashing on the garage roof on the outside, and putting in the waste connections for the bath and vanities inside.

We took the opportunity to get some stair photos, and realised that the Quantum Quartz benchtops have also been installed. Very nice. Colour? Coral Reef (because I knew that you would ask!) Oh, and the stairs are "Woodcare New Maple".

The benches are covered - I moved this piece for the photo

We decided to also cover the sink after this picture was taken

Stairs (oh, really?)

Stairs - and footprints. The painter told us that the clear coat on the stairs sets very hard.

Downpipes installed...

...and again. Plumbers left the top window open.

Blink, and you'll miss it!

Well, as promised after a few days away - here's another update. Last visit to the site was last Thursday - in one week, quite a bit has happened!

We met the chippie doing the fix - a nice guy who lives in Ocean Grove, and also met the guys fixing the cornice. The plasterers told us that they were finishing the job because Luke, the guy we met who was doing the fill, was quite ill - hope you get well soon Luke!

We must admit that we are getting a bit worried - Mike and Marita's home seems to be catching ours! Better call the Site Supervisor and let him know!

Scaffolding down, and site cleaned

Doors, architraves and skirts delivered.

Stairs have gone in!

We now have a room under the stairs

Paint 'n space

Plasterer was on site today, along with the painters. Plasterer said that he's spending so much time here that he might move in! All that needs to be done now is the cornice (from what I can see).

Painters started under the eaves at the front, and looks like they ran out of paint. Some of the steel lintels above the windows have also been done.

I went to take a look upstairs, and guess what - no more ladder. In fact, no more anything. Empty space where our staircase will go.

Just as well the staircase has been delivered!

There won't be any updates for a few days as your friendly blogger will be away. You get a rest for a few days, and I get to do a big update (hopefully!) when I get back!
